"Jola-Fonyi of Senegal and the Gambia (JOH-luh-FOH-nyee)"

Today there is another funeral in the village. It is the death of a woman in her fifties who went through a storying cycle with missionary Donelle Kauffman several years ago and prayed to invite Jesus into her heart. In the past few years, three men and three women from storying groups have passed away. They said the stories from the Bible were the truth, they said they believed Jesus was God’s Son and the Savior of the world, and they prayed to receive Jesus into their hearts, but there did not appear to be real change in their lives. They continued to go to the mosque, they continued to pray to Allah and Muhammad, and they continued to fast and do all of the other things required by Islam. Did they truly know Jesus as their Savior? Only God knows the answer to that question. Pray that when the people hear God’s Word, they will experience true, life-changing conversion, they will want to meet together to pray and worship Jesus, and they will desire to start churches. It is so difficult for them to turn from their culture, family, friends and community to follow Jesus. Intercede for them to have the faith and courage to truly follow Jesus.
